Pumpkins...Carvin...

So all the schools are still canceled...
and we are still snowed in!
Stir crazy?
yes.

But I am determined to head out for
storytime at the library...
and our town Trick or Treat event is
supposedly still on for this afternoon!

Here is evidence of our
pumpkin fun we had here at the house...

Allikaye's cute pumpkin...
yes, she has on a snowman on her shirt...
hey, it's blizzards here!
Boo and Meow!
So proud!

And here is a sneak peek of the costume!!!

We are going to get bundled up and get some candy!

SnOw DaY!

We took advantage of this snowy day...
all schools are cancelled...
dance class was even cancelled...
so we went sledding!!!

It started out great...
fun times...
But this ride down...
lots of snow in the face...
lots...
Brrrrr....
Okay...
time to go home...
ya think?
Wait...
mama wants a picture!
Oh the fun...

Crazy that it is blizzardy outside
before Halloween!
After we recover from the
sledding...
it's pumpkin carvin time...
if we can get warmed up!

S is for SNOW!

Oh yes
It has been snowing all day out here!

Allikaye is super excited...

She keeps telling Tre and Star
(the dog and cat)
"It's snowin outside, Tre!"
"It's snowin outside, Starry!"

She had to wait until daddy got home
so they could get all up in the snow's business...

They even made a mini snowman...

This is love...

Let it snow
Let it snow!

Give me a P_U_M_P_K_I_N!

Okay...
here are l.o.t.s of pictures from our
fun weekend at the pumpkin patch!
Holla!!

We rode some ponies...
Allikaye named this one Frank.
And was making us laugh
by saying ponies eat alfalfa.
Sweet girl...
wearing her ebay cowboy boots... love them!

Here is my happy happy happy...
Grandpa helping Allikaye with some
good old fashioned water pumping...
Here is my cowboy and me...
okay...not so much a cowboy... but still my love!

Then we did some sliding...
oh yes we did...
I love this screaming action shot!
Miss Thang loved it!
She rode down with daddy, grandma, and mama!
Nothing says fall more than feeding a slobbery calf...
This could be a cute picture...
unfortunately Allikaye is too worried
that the goat will bite her...
Soft brown sheep...
Allikaye says sheep say, "MATT!"
We even rode on a hayride...
which was quite bumpy,
and we were afraid grandma was
going to fall off the back...
which actually would have
made it much more exciting...hehe!
Photo op on the red wagon!

Picture One...
crabby princess...

Picture Two...
Smile if you want a pumpkin....
Choosing a pumpkin is serious business...
you need to examine it...
Discuss it with grandpa...
And then discuss it with mama,
who's behind the camera...Then stake your claim...
Here is grandpa and Allikaye with a
mighty fine choice!

Oh my,
how I love pumpkin patch time!

Allikaye keeps saying she,
"has a pumpkin of her really own"

Let's get carvin'!!

Spooky treat...

Popcorn spiders!

What you need:
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup margarine
2 teaspoons cold water
2 5/8 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup marshmallows
5 quarts plain popped popcorn

Heat all ingredients, but the popcorn,
until boiling.
Pour hot mixture over popcorn
and mix well!

And give your daddy a hug...
Put some shortening on your hands...
because this is sticky!
Form into spiders!

We used twizzlers and candy corn...
but you could use lots of other goodies
for the legs and eyes!

And if you are feeling so moved...
kiss your spider...

Boo!

**New memory verse:
"For we are God's masterpiece.
He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,
so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

Alumni Games

This past weekend was our annual
CCU Alumni Games!
Matt played basketball at CCU
and I played volleyball...

It is always fun to go back and reminisce
the days when I met Matt...
and remember the dating and college days...
fun times!

Here is Allikaye and mama at center court...
doing a little posing for you...

Here is the basketball star himself...
oh, and Allikaye said she was praying in this picture...
It was kind of weird to see my daughter running
around the very gym that I spent so much time in...
Seeing her cheer and knowing that she would
someday be old enough to go to college...
and hopefully be a volleyball star!
Hehe...or whatever she chooses, right?
I kept telling her that this is where daddy and mommy met...
and to put it in to her "princess obsession"
I said this is where we shared true love's kiss...
Ha! That made me laugh!
After awhile she said,
"Mom, I like your college."

Well, thanks Miss Thang!

She's got the brains...

Allikaye is very interested in
drawing and coloring lately...
this is a new little milestone for us -
she would color with one color -
for perhaps one minute -
and be on to the next big thing.

But now...
she spends time on her portraits...
describing in detail the creation...
"this is a big castle, mama,
with a dungeon, and lots of people..."
She focuses so intently on the faces..
as she tells me
"here are the eyes, the happy smiley face"
She can look at her whole painting/drawing
and tell you exactly what she drew...
it may be hard to tell with the "adult-eyes" I have,
but she knows exactly what she drew.

She makes up the funniest stories too...
like the dog who wanted to save the princess
but he couldn't go down to the dungeon
by himself.
So he had to get a prince.

We are also mastering drawing an "A".
The process continues...
She can tell you how to draw one...
but to have her actually draw one on command...
well that would be following someone else's will...
and that doesn't always fly for this strong-willed beauty!
I am so thankful that my girl loves to draw...
be creative...
l-o-v-e-s to read...
loves to follow the lines in books and pretend to read...
loves to CREATE!
I love that!

She also has been a little sick girl.
Here is conversation we had this morning...

AK: What was that thing called that you put in my armpit?

Mama: A thermometer...
it tells mama if you are really sick, a little sick, or not at all.

AK: No, mom, a thermometer tells if I have a fever!

Well, smarty pants, yes, it does!
I just should have said that in the first place!
She keeps me on her toes with her brains!
