GO FLY A KITE!

We went to a Kite Festival today! The weather was awesome, it was just windy enough, and (not joking) the sound system was blaring "Let's go fly a kite," straight from Mary Poppins! It made me feel very cliche, but you couldn't help but feel happy and summery! Here's a little cheesy shot of the girls watching the flyers!
Tre, our Australian Shepherd, even came with us! He thoroughly enjoyed himself - you will see why a few pics down...
Yum! Sno-Cones! I think they made them from the 5 inches of snow we just had 2 days ago! Ha!
Look closely at the strawberry- colored- tongue...Tre enjoyed a Sno-Cone himself!
Here's a fun kite...a little weird, actually...

I just love community things like this! It was so fun - and next year, maybe Allikaye will be able to fly a kite all by her big self! I feel like I can say "Happy Spring" now - I have had a sno-cone and walked on semi-green grass!! So, Happy Spring to you, and go fly a kite!
**Have you seen the movie Juno? I watched it last night and laughed today when I thought of Juno's step mom saying - in a not kind way - "Oh, go fly a kite!" Ha! **

A Beautiful Inconvenience

Doesn't that title sound like a Chick Flick movie? I'd see it! Well, I have not used my front door for a week now. Why you may ask? A little sparrow family has moved into the wreath. At first I didn't even notice this little bundle, until I opened our front door, and a mama birdie almost flew into our house...scared the junk out of me! So, as the motherly mama that I am, I have banned us from using the front door. Now get this...I can see mama birdie when I look out the peephole!! Sorry about saying "mama birdie" twice in this post...little annoying. Ha! Well, I will keep you posted on the beautiful springtime surprise!!

"Look at the birds of the air;
that they do not sow, now reap, nor gather into barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not worth much more than they?"

Cantaloupe and Burritos...

I was tagged to list six unimportant things
about myself by Serah at Honeysuckle and Cupcakes.
6 things about Ashley...Allikaye's Mama...
  1. I can clap with one hand. Go ahead and try it, I guarantee you will look really cool! I "taught" my hubby how to do it, and my cousin Anna can do it, and I taught a boy a few years ago that can do it, and by golly, Allikaye will be able to do it!
  2. I am a card-carrying member of the Creek Nation. Yep, my grandpa even subscribed me to their newspaper! Umm...yes...I am blonde and blue eyes...but the blood doesn't lie! So no Indian...I mean Native American... jokes...alright?
  3. I have a Life-List. I will let you know what #1 is...but don't make fun of me...I want to see a beaver in it's natural habitat...hey...no making fun! I have crossed off a lot of them...here's number 6...Eating Spaghetti on the Streets of Italy...check!
  1. I am allergic to cantaloupe. No big deal, my throat just closes up!
  2. If stranded on an deserted island, I would be happy to eat only bean burritos with no onions from Taco Bell...mmmm!
  3. I love hospital/airplane/nursing home food. Especially the mashed potatoes!
So, did you learn so much about me???
I am tagging....April, C, Julie, Candy, Amber, and Erin.

Back from Mexico!

Hola! We are back from our Mexican adventure! And what an adventure it was! The hotel we stayed at was all inclusive, and the food was yummy! You go on a diet to get there, then you have to go on a diet when you leave (I heard someone say that at the pool, and stole it)! The water, the sand, the weather...just beautiful! Miss Allikaye did a fabulous job! Despite us bringing all of her bedding, familiar blankets, toys, etc...she wanted to sleep with her mama the whole time! I didn't mind a week of cuddling with my bebe! And she L-O-V-E-D the beach and the pool...definitely her daddy's baby! She just screamed with joy running in the sand and was so brave in the water! I see many more beach adventures in her future!

Here we are in the awesome hammocks...these are the images I will have in my head when I need a nap!
The beautiful pool...
This is Matt performing his winning "jump" in the pool contest! All those peeps with blue and yellow swimsuits are the "activities crew." They became a little obsessed with Matt, hounding him to play every type of activity and game...I think they could sense that Matt is a true kid under that tough exterior! Oh, he also wanted me to mention that he won the ping pong championship as well! Hibiscus flowers...a favorite!
Allikaye and "pop"This is the path that runs through the hotel grounds... where all the iguanas are lurking!
There were so many new and exciting things for Miss Allikaye to look at - there was a lot of pointing and "ahs" everywhere we went! And like I mentioned...iguanas...lots of them!

This is a lizard that Matt caught in our room...
I wouldn't go to sleep until he captured that little fellow!
Here's Allie at the airport...saying "ba-bye" to every plane she saw!
It's always fun to go on vacation...but it's so nice to come home...
even though it is snowing outside right now!
Ole!

Leavin' on a Jet Plane...

Mexico, here we come...
We'll be back next week, senoritas!
I'll leave you with some animal noises (and a daddy and baby noise)
from Miss Allikaye:

And here is a "ba-bye" from Miss Thing herself!!

Have a wonderful week living in God's Glory!

Eebee Baby!

Eebee Baby - Every Baby's Adventures.
Ever heard of this program? The premis is using practical/everyday things to educate and play with your baby. It includes a colorful puppet that murmurs sounds, and a lady that uses a high pitched "baby voice" (may tend to be called annoying). Well, of course, Miss Allikaye LOVES it! She does her toe-tap-jump-and-clap dance when I turn it on. So, I took an idea straight from the screen, here it is:Simple: water pouring into a bucket. She can turn it on and off - run her hands under it - plenty of laughs and learning!
Here's what they didn't show with the puppet and "baby-talker" ......Soaked carpet, empty bucket, empty water pitcher, and sopping wet Allikaye! Way to go Eebee! Well, it was fun while it lasted!

April Fool's Breakfast!

Here's Matt's breakfast this morning! Hahahahaha!
Ingredients for fun:
Pound cake (that's the toast)
Marshmallows (melted for 5 seconds)
Yellow frosting (use an ice cream scoop)
So...did Matt fall for it?
No, the punk! He stuck his fork in the "yolk" and it wasn't the consistency that he expected - and he wouldn't fall for it! But I was crackin' up! Fun times!
Let me know what tricks you pull today!
